Waiting more than 20s for first move in special event

hi Stefan or other administrator
(I don't know the others)
For France-Italy, I need to prepare the collection. 2 windows with 6 games each.
Is it possible that players are on the board without playing for about 5 minutes, time for me to configure collection before live streaming.
Thanks for answer
Philippe Jeanneret

Hi philJ,

From the moment that a game is set (challenge is accepted), you can add that game to the collection. So before the first move is played, you can add that specific game by adding one of the two players' usernames to the collection. Players can set up the game and notify you, waiting for a GO sign after you prepared the collection. But this is far from ideal, I can imagine you don't know all those players so maybe it is a bit much to ask them to wait for a stream setup.

In direct challenges (what is used most for these teammatches) there is no time-limit for the first move. Most of the time a player does have limited time to play the first move. But this depends on the way that a game is matched. In tournaments the time for the first move depends on the time-control.

Overall I think it is best to add the username of one of the two players per game after the match is set. It's probably faster then using an URL or ID.

Good luck and best of wishes,

Oh wow I just realized. In my head I've been reading your name as BalloonBumperCars

Like bumper cars but they are balloons not car balloons that bump.

Is it just me or has anyone else experienced that?

@PhilJ

I've made an update to the game collections today that should allow you to get everything ready in advance.

When there are finished games in the collection a 'Reload boards' button now appears in the menu on the left. This will reload all finished boards with the ongoing game of the same player (that is always the player listed on the bottom left, you can flip boards to get the game of the other player). Also the boards show the result of the game now once it is finished.

So you can add all the players that you want to follow in advance, and click the reload button once the games have started.

Ok. I try that...
That's nice.
In fact, i do on OBS now with 6 different windows. Each are the window for one game so i've the clock also.
Collection was a great thing but we don't see clocks.
So everything is ok.
I use collection to have my 2x6 boards (France-Italie on 24th of may)
I open 12 windows for all games.
On OBS, i've these twelve windows.
For the second match I reload the collection.
Great !!
If youare interested in i can send you an image of my OBS screen
Kind regards
Philippe J.

I don't stream myself, but I'm sure it can help others if you share how you do that in OBS

It is true that the possibilities for such small windows are limited, they can't contain much extra information. To include running clocks would be too much. But it should provide a better overview now that the results are also visible. To provide meaningful analysis you will eventually have to open a different window anyway in many cases, for example to go to the analysis board from the game window.
