Reading the thread diagonally, and the way arguments are taken into account by the "administrators" Rp and BBC (applause from my side), I observe things are moving in the right direction. The LD site is wonderful and has a lot of potential to grow towards a large audience (esp. for Frisian Checkers I hope).

Having said that, I strongly adhere to the remarks that Roitelet made. Nowadays playing without increment in clubs or tournaments is seen less and less. It is preferred by young men with speed of light game reflexes. I guess Roitelet and certainly I have come of age, which means our response times have become slower, but what is more attractive than showing that the advantage can be materialised in actual play (thanks Robert Fischer).

It's a matter of preference, others enjoy the aspect of having to manage your clock as well. Hopefully there is a better balance between the two with the tournament timecontrols that were recently added!
