Will we get an A.I.?

I wanna play checkers while waiting for opponents will the site have an A.I. to play against?

Hi all,

The answer is yes, that addition is high on our agenda. Unfortunately, we can not give a timeframe (yet) when to expect this great future feature.

FYI: Implementing an A.I. (or draughts engine) will create a lot more options or benefits later on than just playing against a computer (think about Stockfish on Lichess.org), for example: analyzing games, cheat detection and, with the latter, a better foundation to maybe make 'live money tournaments' possible.

Imagine an engine as a seed and the other ideas/benefits as the flower. It will take time to flourish. We will water the plant slowly but surely (maybe with Pokon).

Hopefully this answers your question for now.

Kind regards

I think the answer is yes. Also most code can probably just be transported from the lichess implementation. So far I can see the UCI protocol is not so chess specific, only the "mate" feature can be dropped, so I wonder if there really has to be used a different protocol then the chess implementation here.

Also, you had an incorrect link. Here is the correct one.

NB. I also wonder if there is a plan to deploy an AI for frisian as well?
