Disable 4-points match

Hi to lidraughts team,

While we are waiting for swiss tournament format to be available, having the option to disable or enable 4-point match after 2 straight wins, just like we can disable bersek when setting up a tournament.

Best regards,

Archange

It has been requested before, but we're not sure about this one. Winning streaks are tied to the Arena tournament format, and offer a nice incentive against draws. Without them (or berserk) you would basically end up with something close to a swiss, but less fair given the different amount of games for each player. We would love to hear opinions though.

Thx for the quick feedback @RoepStoep . Giving it as an option would be fine, since actually, in the private tournaments we are organizing due to very different player level participating, we believe having 4 points after 2 easy wins against 2 weak opponent makes the final ranking unfair for us. we do not want the ranking to be too link to the order you meet your opponents. some are lucky to face 4 weeks opponents and it make the tournament ranking very unfair. if lidraughts can offer the option for the users to disable the double points (fire mode) just like we can disable bersek, it would be fine. We plan on doing this calculation manually, but it can he hard and create frustration... we hope you understand and hope this change is not too hard to do. While Swiss system is not their yet, this would be nice "option" to offer.

I understand it can be a lot of work to manually recalculate all the scores. If you use the arena tournaments like that anyway, we might as well add 'disable winning streaks' as an option. It has been added to the TODO list, I will post any updates in this forum topic

Thanks RoepStoep. I appreciate your quick answer and looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @archange007

Lidraughts has just been updated with the option to disable winning streaks. When creating a tournament (or editing an existing one), you will now find the option 'Arena streaks' under advanced settings. If you disable it there will be no double points for streaks.

Thanks @RoepStoep for taking this suggestion into account. I can see already that not only me, but some other player are using this feature for their tournament.
