Greetings!
May I know why Blitz time control is a popular time control for 10 x 10 draughts games, at least here in lidraughts?
I wish to know.
Blitz Time Control Popularity
Blitz is much more compatible, especially the 3+0 or increment timecontrols. Its because its "ONLINE DRAUGHTS" as you might have realised in Online Chess websites, there also most players play blitz.
There arent much info on www.youtube.com/results?search_query=why+is+blitz+time+control+so+famous but you may watch some interviews of Magnus or others to know the importance of it.
It is only nowadays that 3' and 3' + 2" blitz games gained popularity on 10x10 board. I don't think that it is enough for SERIOUS tournaments where one can earn NATIONAL or REGIONAL prizes: generally, this time control is one where young players can excel, but not 35+ players.
Majority of national federations recognize blitz tournaments under 3' or 3' + 2" time control only for games on 8x8 board; 5' and 5' + 2" in real life tournaments are more common for games on 10x10 board, and federations will not recognize any ELO points gained through tournaments under lower time control.
Thus, there is nothing wrong if you play under this low time control in online games, but these results can't be sufficient basis for earning some title: these results prove only swiftness of your reaction, but not strategical skills.
Blitz is the most fun time control, thats it for me at least.
Wits is the name of the game on high-thrill draughts and chess games, I suppose?
