Learning the international draughts for beginner

Every player is learning draughts forever. :)
However, I suppose that you ask about the period of time which is supposed to acquire a confidence, so that he can be a good opponent to any national master.
In typical case, a beginner acquires FMJD ELO 1900 (which is equal to approx. ELO 1600 in lidraughts) within 3 or 4 years, if he or she dedicates at least 10 hours per week to the game.
Any good skills from other board games - for example, Chess skills, Halma skills, Go skills, Othello or Reversi skills - can shorten this period of time.

@kalnap Thank you for providing the information. Are the hourly tournaments/arenas, especially for blitz, good for practicing? I think there is a less chance to get game abortion/rejection.

@Fierex02 Until you reach lidraughts ELO 1400, the best time control for you should be 10' + 15" or pure 15' per game. In that period of learning you need to break some habits like making random moves and responding to opponent moves with automatic reactions, therefore, the games with higher time control are more suitable. In the light of this, you should look for corresponding tournaments or try to find a club where players practice games under that time control.

@kalnap you have always been good at responding to newbie questions which has really been helpful even to me. Thanks
