This game seems nearly impossible to play

It's really hard to notice capture sequences, you can capture in absurd ways, what not?
It's impossible for me to play this game. Even chess is easier. How do I improve (I'm only trying to improve past the beginner level, as I mainly play chess as a board game (unrelated to checkers), but literally anybody I play beats me with ease in checkers, and I don't want that)?

As ä beginner myself, I can recommend the following study series:

It teaches the rules, followed by progressively more difficult concepts. But the thing is that this series is built in such a way that it builds on itself.

I had the exact same feeling as you (comparison with chess included). The (pre)Course in Draughts by Tjalling Goedemoed (link in the previous post) is the best resource I could find.

Also try Frisian draughts if you want your brain to melt down.

Who told you it was a simple game? You were cheated - it's a difficult game ) To develop, you need to study the literature on the game, solve a lot of problems, and maybe even take lessons from a coach.

I think the bigger difference is with chess there are so many videos of good players explaining how to play the game and what their thoughts are in a given position and with indepth tutorials. On this it seems more I am trying to learn it on my own with a few written resources.
