Russian Draughts

Good day, Alexander! The rule about a man's movement is not bad. It gives some possibility of abuse, but only to the strongest side. It's easier to win than to stall. I just don't want to drag this platform into a debate. May you have the opportunity to appeal to the functionaries of the FMJD? I find it strange that this question has appeared. Considering how many draughts-64 tournaments are held under their auspices.

It is an interesting discussion, although it is true that this forum is probably not the best place to settle it.

Still if it is clear that this rule is flawed, and positions are known where a forced win takes more moves, we should consider changing it. The rules of lidraughts are more easily changed than the rules of the FMJD I figure :)

But there would have to be a serious alternative that is well founded by latest theory. Ideally one that has consenus as a replacement

@AlKand Maybe I misunderstand your point, but if the conditions for either rule are fulfilled, the game would be declared a draw.

Sorry for my English, so far from native :-) You understood me wrong.
Rule "15 kingmoves (any king) without captures or moving men, the game is drawn" should have been applied for Bogomol game. But didn't applied.
Engine "pay attention" to pieces balance only, but according to rule above it need to calculate moves from 1-st after each "moving men" or "balance changed"

34. g7-f8 - balance changed, start to calculate from 1 up to 15
40. a3-b4 moving men, counter reset, start to calculate from 1 up to 15
42. b4-a5 moving men, counter reset, start to calculate from 1 up to 15
48. a5-b6 moving men, counter reset, start to calculate from 1 up to 15

My point was that they are two different rules:

Rule #1: "If both players have at least one king, and the balance of the pieces remains the same, the game is drawn after both players play 15 moves in a 4- or 5-piece ending"
Rule #2: "If both players play 15 kingmoves (any king) without captures or moving men, the game is drawn."

Rule #1 doesn't reset counter by moving men, only by changing the balance of pieces (promotion or capture).
So only move 34 resets counter for rule #1. Moves 40, 42, 48 reset counter for rule #2.

RoepStoep - No... 30 or 60 moves not 15 or 30. It's total number of moves. Moving a piece reset 15 moves counter. But when there will be exchange, then after that it's possible that 60 moves changes to 30 moves. Crowning resets that 30 or 60 moves counter. 3 kings against 1 king - 15 moves when player with 3 kings holds longest diagonal (otherwise its 5 moves).

so 34. g7-f8 - balance changed, starts again 30 moves for crowning the next piece
40. a3-b4, 42. b4-a5, 48. a5-b6, 49.b6-a7 - 15 moves counter resets

probably there will be 50.a7-b8, and only after that left 15 moves to win (3 kings against one)

So you're saying that the 30/60 move rule means 30/60 moves per player @villem (which means 60/120 moves for both players combined)?

Indeed that is a possible point of confusion, and this would be a good explanation. Still I'm surprised you are the first to bring it up, after I mentioned this initially: lidraughts.org/forum/general-draughts-discussion/blog-Xuju_hAAACMAAyKu?page=2#13

So far it has been surprisingly difficult to get clarity regarding the correct interpretation. No doubt for a large part due to the language barrier, as the formulation on fmjd64.org can be interpreted both ways. Unfortunately the same is true of many 'google translate conversations' about the subject.

Yes, it means 30 or 60 moves per player.

Will we be able to play against the computer in russian soon?

It is on the top of the list. All I can say is as soon as possible :)
